PROJECT-LEVEL FUNDING

Early-stage projects urgently need funding to conduct feasibility studies and achieve project validation with no financial risk to the project, due to uncertainty over volume and rights to credits. The market generally doesn’t provide such funding.

PORTFOLIO-LEVEL FUNDING

Structuring portfolio-level finance and terms where each project has different technical characteristics and is subject to Government negotiation requires deep industry knowledge and (delivery) risk appetite generally not available among investors.

Project Investment

Managed validation and verification for 6 large-scale VCS & CCB-verified carbon projects. Performed technical DD (incl. feasibility) for 20+ investments in VCS REDD+ and other NbS carbon projects. Raised $30m project finance from global blue chip for one of the world’s largest REDD+ projects.

Investment Pipeline

Developed and established two NbS-related accelerators (Mirova Nature+, Terratai), with a focus on screening and performing pre-feasibility on multiple REDD+, ALM, blue carbon and ARR projects. Access to 300+ projects through formal collaboration and relationships with leading project developers.

Technical Expertise

Led project development / PDDs in Vietnam (first REDD+ project in country), Liberia, Tanzania, Zambia. Blue carbon lead for pioneering industry fund. Currently co-developing two VCS projects. Conversant with VCS and Plan Vivo methodologies. Piloting VERRA’s new Nature Framework to generate high-quality biodiversity credits.
